Dr Sven Schimpf, Managing Director of Fraunhofer Group, comments that the future of R&D and Innovation is highly uncertain. “A higher degree of interdisciplinarity, openness, flexibility and digitalisation with a stronger focus on user value are among the developments that we foresee in the future.
“For example, digitalisation and AI might be able to perform R&D and Innovation – making the work of researchers as we know it today obsolete.
“We, from the Fraunhofer Group for Innovation Research, did a study on how innovation might look like in the year 2030 based on 5 major theses: http://s.fhg.de/innovation2030-en which would be of interest to someone new to this area.”
